Jenks’ Isabella Hinds – Volleyball Spotlight – Presented by BancFirst Jenks

The defending Class 6A state champions enter the 2024 season with high hopes. Isabella Hinds, or “Izzy” is a returning setter for the Lady Trojans and someone coach Steph Kane is excited to have back on the team.

“She commands the court and runs a competitive offense. With her leadership, the Trojans follow suit and will continue to be an offensive threat this season,” said Kane.

Izzy started her volleyball career thanks to a family member who was a former player.

“My dad played volleyball at BYU and played all throughout my childhood. He never pushed me to the sport, but I fell in love with the sport watching him play I wanted to repeat what he did. I started playing for Jenks in 7th grade but started playing club when I was nine,” said Hinds.

Each team is different and the 2024 team is coming together as they get into the heart of their schedule.

“I love the atmosphere we have at Jenks. The atmosphere is super positive and driven. Being on the team makes me want to be the best I can be for my teammates and coaches. We have a close program and I love all of the girls in it. They are all great and what to work hard and win,” said Hinds.

For Hinds, there are many reasons Jenks is a great place to be a student-athlete.

“I love the tradition and the winning spirit of the of the program. We also have an awesome coaching staff that really pushes us,” said Hinds.

Having a strong work ethic is something that separates many of the Jenks players from their rivals.

“My parent told me I could do whatever I wanted as long as I strived to be the best at it. They have always pushed me to be the best person I could be,” said Hinds.

Hinds said many people have made an impact in her life including her middle school coach. “My 8th grade coach and my assistant coach now on varsity. Coach Parsons changed my position to setter my 8th grade year and was super encouraging and always believed in my skills and me as a player. There was point when I really wanted to quit but she never let me, and I am very grateful for that.”

After high school, Hinds would like to become a sports trainer.
