VYPE: Brylie, what grade are you in and when did you start playing softball?
Brylie Blossom: I am in 11th grade, and I started playing softball when I was four.
VYPE: What position are you playing this season?
BB: I play centerfield.
VYPE: What skill set are you best at and what have you improved on this season?
BB: Out of my skills, I am best at fielding and being on defense in general, but I feel that I am always improving on my hitting every week.
VYPE: What makes Jenks HS a great place for you as a student-athlete?
BB: Jenks High School has provided a lot of help with my mental side of the game and has made me more confident at what I’m doing, which has also helped me alongside real life task and in school.
VYPE: Do you play fastpitch and if so, are there things you like to work on during slow pitch season that you can use during fastpitch?
BB: Yes, I do play slow and fast pitch. In slow pitch you get a lot of balls in the outfield consistently which has helped me in fastpitch be able to track fly balls faster and know immediately what to do when the ball is hit to you in situations with runners on the bases.
VYPE: What does the support from your coaches, parents and fans mean to you?
BB: The support from my family, coaches, and fans has helped me more than they know. When I’m struggling the most in softball, all the little comments and lift ups helps me believe in myself more and it helps to know that they believe in me as well.
VYPE: How do you mentally prepare yourself for competition?
BB: For me it’s best not to think much about how I’m going to preform but more about how I’m going to think when I don’t do something at my best or if I make a mistake, so thinking about the mental side of the game helps me not to overthink when the situation happens.
VYPE: What do you love most about your teammates?
BB: I love that my teammates can always lift me up when I’m down and encourage me when I’m not doing well, a lot of my teammates are my best friends outside of softball.
VYPE: What are your goals for life after high school?
BB: My goal outside of high school softball is to get recruited and go to a college with a good education and a good softball team and find a life-time job in the medical field!
VYPE: Who inspires you, on or off the field?
BB: Someone who inspires me off and on the field is my dad, he doesn’t know it but I look up to him not just in softball but in life because of how good of a person he is to me and other people.
VYPE: What accomplishment are you most proud of as a student-athlete?
BB: An accomplishment I’m most proud of is my first high school home run against BA, this is because they have been our rivals since freshman year and I was happy I could help and provide our first win against them since then.
