Jenks’ Aiden Bezenah
You would not know Jenks High School’s Aiden Bezenah is a freshman just by looking at him. The underclassman started playing basketball when he was five years old and at 6-foot-6, he was the only freshman on the roster to start the season.
Playing center and forward for the Trojans is a big task for anyone but doing it as a freshman adds some extra pressure. Bezenah has found a way to deal with the pressure.
“Before a game I will reduce screen time, soak it all in, and get loose,” said Bezenah.
Despite his age, there are some skills Bezenah beings to the court for the Trojans. He is a true combo type player.
“The strength of my skill set is shooting behind the arc and getting to the basket when needed. I have improved on my overall strength, driving, and facilitating,” said Bezenah.
Growing under the influence of your upperclassmen can be a learn experience and a special one. Bezenah said he continues to learn from his teammates and values everything they help him with on and off the court.
“Omari Robinson has impressed me because he finishes through contact and always works hard on defense. Ilias Tata keeps everyone laughing, and Carson Mariska is the most serious,” Mercer said. “We pick each other up when we’re down or make mistakes. We keep it positive but also hold each other accountable.” Bezenah would one day like to play at the next level and possibly as a pro. He is looking forward to playing with his AAU team, Oklahoma Chaos this summer on the Puma NXT circuit.
