With soccer season rapidly approaching, VYPE editor Brad Heath reached out to Jenks High School’s Nicolas Treat for a quick edition of 9 Questions. Here’s what the Trojan standout had to say about the upcoming season.
VYPE: Nicolas, what grade are you in this year and what position are you going to play?
Treat: I’m a senior this year and I play both attacking and defensive center midfield.
VYPE: What do you expect the team to look like this season?
Treat: I think we look good so far. I’m looking forward to pre-season so we can start getting players into their positions more and continue building chemistry. We have a state title to defend so we must be disciplined to work hard every day.
VYPE: Is that the goal, defend the title?
Treat: I want to be a good leader for my fellow players. My goal is to lead by example in the way I train, treat other players on and off the field and how much passion I play with at game time. TAKE STATE…AGAIN.
VYPE: What do you love most about your teammates?
Treat: I love that some of us have grown up playing soccer together. We have a lot of history, stories, and memorable moments together that make us a strong band of brothers and teammates.
VYPE: What do you love most about being a student athlete at Jenks? Treat: I love that Jenks is a big school with a small-town feel. The students really rally around one another and support all the athletic teams. The environment is electric when they all come out to our soccer games which lights us up to compete that much harder.
VYPE: Do you belong to any clubs or groups at school? Treat: No, I’ve mainly always focused on high school and club soccer which takes up most of my time because I traveled all over the place with club.
VYPE: What’s your favorite subject in school and do you have a favorite teacher? Treat: Math is my favorite subject. My favorite teacher was Ms. Nadeem. She treated us like young adults and made us feel valued.
VYPE: What would you like to do after you graduate? Treat: I am heading to RSU to play college soccer and will be majoring in Wildlife Conservation and Biology to pursue a career as a Game Warden.
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Treat: I’m pretty social so I enjoy doing just about anything with my friends. I also love the outdoors and like to hike, fish and hunt.
