Jenks’ Marissa Williams Athlete Spotlight Presented by BancFirst Jenks

Jenks High School
Jenks High School junior Marissa Williams is a member of the varsity swim team and will
compete in at least three events for the Trojans this season. As a team, both the girls and
the boys are focused on winning team titles this season.

“I usually swim the 200 IM, 100 butterfly, and 100 backstroke,” said Marissa. “The goal for
this season is to win a state championship title with my team. Additionally, my personal
goal is to drop time in my individual events, but also to get better at the little things. This
includes stronger under waters, a more aggressive kick, and working on my mindset
throughout races. We have been training very hard and are looking forward to seeing some
of it hopefully pay off at the end of the season.”

Representing Jenks HS and her teammates is something Williams is proud to do.
“With being a student-athlete at Jenks, I love that I am able to train in a facility that is very
nice. Jenks does a very great job with making sure their athletes are taken care off with
food, equipment, and gear so that we can succeed,” said Williams.

Williams said she loves competing with this group and is excited to see what the season
will hold.

“I love that my teammates are very hard working and supportive. They are always excited
to be at practice and even during a tough practice, they are always encouraging others and
reminding us of our goals,” said Williams.

Williams is a member of National Honor Society, International Scholars Program, Mock
Trial, and the Student-Athlete Leadership team. In the classroom, Williams said she enjoys
learning about the history of our country and the world.

“My favorite subject at school is history. I especially love my history class this year which is
AP United States History. My teacher, Mrs. Reilly is amazing at teaching this subject and I
am very thankful for her,” said Williams.

While she is still making plans for life after high school, Williams said she is considering
several majors including marketing and communications, psychology, or law. In her free
time Williams said she enjoys spending time with family and friends.

“I also enjoy coaching at my swim club and teaching first graders at my church,” said
Williams.
