Evan Powers
Jenks High School
The Jenks swim program is always in the hunt for a state title. One reason for the success is the steady flow of talent entering the program. A newcomer to the team this year is Evan Powers. Powers is a freshman and will swim the 100 backstroke, 100 freestyle, and the 100 fly.
“I love being a part of the team and atmosphere that comes with it. My goal for this season is to get a sectionals time. Our goal for the team is to win another state championship for Jenks,” said Powers.
It’s a tight group at Jenks and Powers said the support they give one another helps build strong bonds.
“I like how we support each other and build each other up. They push me to be a better person in and out of the water. My brother, Ethan is a senior on the JHS swim team. He is the person who introduced me to swimming. Without him, I wouldn’t have joined this sport. He motivates me to work hard every day. He has been a great influence for me throughout the years,” said Powers.
Powers said his favorite subject in school is match. The freshman said he has three years to figure out what he wants to be after high school.
“I plan to go to college and possibly swim in college,” said Powers.
Away from the pool, Powers said he enjoys spending time with friends, playing games, or spending time with my family.
