As the Fall sports are wrapping up, we take a closer look at a few student-athlete who stood out this season in Cross Country, Fastpitch Softball, Volleyball.
8 – Brody Maasen is a sophomore for the Trojans cross country team and someone coach Joe Dial is excited to see compete this year in track and next year in cross country. Maasen finished his run at the state meet with a time of 17:12.26.
7 – Boy’s cross country standout Santiago Pereira made an impression on head coach Joe Dial this season, competing with some of the top talent in the state and representing Jenks at the state meet and finished with a time of 16:35.09. Pereira is only a sophomore and is expected to only get better.
6 – Paiton Hedges started at catcher for the Lady Trojans fastpitch softball team and carried a .352 batting averaging this season. Defensively Hedges was solid behind the plate at catcher.
5 – Girl’s cross country head coach Shawna Dial said the entire varsity group had a strong season this year. Kate Barber was certainly a standout for the Trojans. Barber finished 18 th overall at the state meet with a time of 18:52.93.
4 – Charli Keeley, a sophomore like teammate Kate Barber, was strong all season long. Keeley led the Trojans at the state meet with a 13 th place finish and a time of 18:38.38. It appears the Trojan cross country team will be a contender for some time. With the help of two seniors Rachel Cornell, Carrington Hessen, and Victoria Collins, Jenks finished 3 rd overall as a team.
3 – Kenzie Cothran had a great season for the Lady Trojans fastpitch softball team. Cothran hit .416 on the season and played in the infield for Jenks.
2 – Senior outside hitter, Maren Johnson, was a standout player for the Jenks volleyball team all season. Johnson was instrumental in helping the Lady Trojans win their 6 th state championship in volleyball.
1 – Kynli Kirkendoll, a middle blocker for Jenks, was responsible for the final kill to win the Class 6A state title. Kirkendoll was dominate during the tournament and made some great plays against some of the best talent in the state. Kirkendoll will take her talents to the University of Chattanooga in Tennessee next Fall.
