Lisa Hedges
Jenks Mom of the Month
Lisa Hedges is mother to Paiton and Teylor Hedges of Jenks. Both Paiton and Teylor are involved in sports, which keeps Lisa busy.
“Paiton is a junior and Teylor is an eighth grader. They both play softball for Jenks and Paiton plays for Oklahoma Pryme 18U and Teylor plays for Tulsa Elite 27/28 travel ball teams,” said Lisa.
Serving as the co-president of the Lady Trojans Softball Booster Club, Lisa said it’s important for parents to get involved in their kids’ activities.
“Most of my volunteer time comes with serving on the booster club. I feel that if a kid can see that their parent is there for them at their activities then they are more willing to share things at home when needed. It allows the parent to socialize with other parents and get to know their kids’ friends better,” said Lisa.
Finding enjoyment in volunteering was easy for Lisa and her family.
“I enjoy helping coordinate fundraisers and special events for the school softball team. I also enjoy keeping score for the junior high team so I can get to know the girls by name to know them better,” said Lisa.
A graduate of Broken Arrow High School, Lisa said Jenks is a big school with a small town feel.
“I like that it is a large school, but small town feel. The students have many things that they can be involved in and many different options of classes they can take.”
When they are not at the field, you can find the Hedges family traveling and spending time together.
“We like to go to Branson and mainly hang out as a family anywhere. We are always splitting up for softball and do not get much time together as a family,” said Lisa.
Lisa played softball in high school and college, so seeing her girls follow in her footsteps is special.
“Getting to see my girls do the same thing and getting to still hang out at the softball field brings me much joy. I like to mention the other Booster Club board members as well, without them then many things would not be possible,” said Lisa.
