VYPE: What are your goals for yourself and your team this season?
Tanner: Goals I have for me and my team is just being the absolute best we can on and off the field whether it’s baseball or just being friends making sure the bond we have made through baseball can stick in the real world, but in the baseball world is to win another state championship!
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Tanner: The most fun I have had in the past year was getting called up to varsity as a freshman and getting to play at a highly competitive level in the postseason and even get in a few starts and putting up a good stat line against great pitchers.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Tanner: My favorite athletic memory is dog piling in Enid, Oklahoma after we had an extra inning comeback win in the state championship game winning 9-6 over Mustang.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Tanner: A teammate that has left a great impression on me is Brooks Fowler, when I first came to Jenks baseball people looked at me like I was some hot shot and just thought I knew everything but when Brooks came and talked to me for the first time, he made me feel accepted into the program along with all the coaches.
VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your coach and who says the funniest things during games?
Tanner: Alex Fisher has the best impressions and always has me cracking up, even in rough times after a stressful game or something I just take a peek over at him and he automatically makes me laugh. He used to take me to and from school last year so me and him got really close which is funny because I am 6-foot-6 and he is 5-foot-6 so it’s kind of the tall and short, best-friend combo.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Tanner: If I could go anywhere from a summer vacation it would probably be Cabo Mexico with my dad and two sisters. Some of my friends went there this past spring break and it looked very enjoyable with all the cool shops and stuff there that I don’t see every day in Oklahoma.
VYPE: If we gave you $500 dollars and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?
Tanner: If I had $500 dollars and I had to spend it in 24 hours I would either go straight to Rawlings.com and get a new glove or go to Boot Barn or Cavender’s and get me a good pair of boots.
VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.
Tanner: Thank you to all my coaches who have pushed me to be the best I can possibly be. And to my dad, thank you for sacrificing so many days off work and so many weekends to watch me play ball and taking me to and from all these tournaments out of town. I truly love you dad.
