VYPE: When did you first get involved in dance and what do you enjoy most about Friday nights?
Bailey Farr: “I have been dancing since I was three and grew up in a studio my whole life. I quit studio when I was a freshman and decided to join pom. Friday nights are so fun to be with your team and get to cheer on your school. The bus rides and getting ready in the pom room together is my favorite part, you make so many fun memories every Friday night.”
VYPE: What activities is Pom involved in during the summer?
BF: “We go to UDA Camp at the beginning of the summer, and we have 1-2 practices a week during the summer, and you only come if you are in town. We start practice every day back on the 27th of July and from there it doesn’t stop until February.”
VYPE: Do you belong to any other clubs or groups at school?
BF: “I am involved in Student Body Leadership, and I am the secretary of Jenks Student Council.”
VYPE: What current or former teammate left an impression on you and in what way?
BF: “Rylee Cole and Teya Leemius were on my team my freshman year and they were both such a good friends to me. It is hard being a freshman on varsity and I had never done Pom before, so it was a lot at once. They both included me so well and cared so much for me and my wellbeing which left such a great impression on me. They are such strong, kind, and such a loving and fun people to be around.”
VYPE: What lesson did you learn last year that will help you this season?
BF: “The more your team becomes a family, and everyone is friends and cares about each other, the more fun it’ll be and the more you will want to try your best. Also, everyone has a special part on the team.”
VYPE: What advice would you give someone who wants to join pom?
BF: “No matter what team you make, it truly is the most fun you will ever have. It is a great way to make friends and have fun experiences!”
