The Lady Trojans put on a great performance at the state golf tournament this year and one of their members, Bella Negley, put together two solid rounds to help the Trojans to a second-place finish.
Only a junior, Negley has played golf for several years and she said being on the varsity team at Jenks is exactly where she wants to be.
“I love how competitive the field is at Jenks. Every sport here has great coaches and great players. I love how supportive and close all of us are, even outside of golf,” said Negley.
During the tournament, Negley shot rounds of 85 and 88, good enough for a 28th place finish in a field of 76 prep golfers. Negley said her best round in her career was a 73 at the Owasso Golf Club.
“My favorite course to play is probably The Oaks or Owasso Golf Club. My favorite tournament this season so far has been the Jenks Invitational at South Lakes. My whole team got to play, and we got to win on home soil,” said Negley.
A member of National Honor Society, Negley is hopeful she will have the opportunity to play at the next level, but before she makes her way to a college campus, Negley and the Lady Trojans are refocusing on bringing the title back to Jenks.
“The team is looking really good. We won 6-of-8 tournaments,” said Negley.
Negley said she enjoys spending time with family and practicing with her teammates during her free time.
