There’s no other way to say it, the Trojans are on an absolute roll right now. Fresh off a historic win over Bixby last Friday night, the Trojans began their quest for yet another state title against Edmond North this week. The men in maroon left little doubt, as they routed Edmond North 68-14 to move on to the next round against Mustang.
A total of nine different Trojans scored a touchdown as Jenks pushed their win streak to five games, now well in pursuit of what could be their third straight 6A-1 state championship. This season started with a pretty banged up Trojans offense, missing starters along the offensive line, wide receiver and in the backfield. As the season as gone on, the Trojans have gotten healthier. That health has provided a return to form as Keith Riggs’ squad looks primed to have just as good of a shot hoisting the gold ball in December as anyone.
Credit touchdowns to Jaiden Carroll, Jalyn Stanford, Jordan Schelling, Khlyer Beaty, Cooper Crissup, Ty Walls, Simian Gilkey and Michael Wilson. Quarterback Ike Owens completed seven of 10 passes for 137 yards. The Trojans defense caused four turnovers in the win.
Jenks will travel west along I-44 next week to take on Mustang at their place in the second round. Mustang is an 8-2 football team who finished second in their district, which is why they will host the Trojans who finished third in their respective district.
