Jenks standout Brianna “Bri” Johnson suffered an injury as a junior, but that only fueled her to come back stronger and represent Jenks on the court.
Head coach Mike Acord said of Johnson, “this year, as a senior, she has come back full force with a great attitude and a desire to pay it forward to all of the underclassmen. She takes them under her wing and is a great leader for them. Having her back makes a big difference for our team, on and off the court.”
We caught up with Bri to find out more about her and to give her the opportunity to give her own shoutout.
VYPE: Bri, what will you remember most about your time as a member of the Lady Trojans basketball team and your time as a student-athlete at Jenks High School?
Johnson: What I will remember most about high school is watching not only myself but my teammates grow up into these strong and beautiful woman that will rule the world one day.
VYPE: What is the first thing you’re going to do once you graduate?
Johnson: The first thing I will do after I graduate is give my mom and dad a hug and tell them how grateful I am for everything they have done for me.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher at Jenks, from any grade?
Johnson: My favorite teacher was Mrs. Moore from third and fourth grade. She showed me that it is awesome to be tall and left-handed.
VYPE: What advice would you give the underclassmen at Jenks?
Johnson: My advice for underclassmen is to not give up. There are going to be days where you feel like quitting but trust me you are stronger than you think, and you will make it through.
VYPE: Here’s your chance to say thank you, hello or goodbye to anyone you wish.
Johnson: I want to say thank you to my mother for making sure that I could play basketball no matter what and showing me that I am strong and have power. I also want to say thank you to my father for always telling me what to work on making sure I was always at my best and making sure I have my basketball kicks for game day.
