VYPE: What position do you play and what’s the toughest thing about playing that position?
Emma Undernehr: I play outside back and mid field! The hardest part of playing outside back is constantly running up and down the sideline when switching from offense to defense. The hardest part of midfield is how busy it is and the risk you have with the ball.
VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates at Jenks?
EU: The thing I love the most is how much Christ is embedded into our dynamic and standards. It is truly so special to have teammates who want the same goals as you and are willing to work just as hard as you, if not harder.
VYPE: Who inspires you? Explain.
EU: My mom, she has never failed to push me to be the best version of myself in every aspect of my life. She is selfless, gentle, supportive like no other, and genuinely the hardest working person I know.
VYPE: Favorite subject in school and favorite teacher from any grade?
EU: My favorite subject in school is AP psychology, and my favorite teacher is Mr. Beach from 4th grade
VYPE: What makes being a Jenks Trojan special for you?
EU: Being a Jenks Trojan is so special to me because Jenks is truly the school for new opportunities and open doors. There is something for everyone here, it’s a school that wants their students to not only learn but excel.
VYPE: What other clubs or groups do you belong to at school?
EU: I participate in Native American Education, STUCO, Pre-Med society, Drug free youth, and National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Super fans, and Distinguished Service Graduates.
VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
EU: In my free time I prioritize spending quality time with my family and friends. I also play club soccer for WSA on the 07/08 ECNL team. My favorite thing to do in my free time is spend time with the Lord, whether that’s outside in nature, at church, or at New Life Ranch.
VYPE: Which teammate is the most vocal and which teammate keeps everyone laughing?
EU: My most vocal teammate is definitely Trenna Walls and the funniest teammate is without a doubt Addi Fletcher.
VYPE: What has athletics taught you that you will use later in life?
EU: Athletics has taught me discipline, resilience, and how to work hard when I have no motivation to do so. It’s shown me the importance of commitment and to stick with something that isn’t always consistently rewarding.
VYPE: What’s the strength of your game and what are you working on to improve?
EU: I believe my strength in the game is my work ethic and how hard I work; I could definitely work on my first touch and technical skills with the ball.
