Since the age of four, Jenks High School sophomore Maddy Goss has called the pitch her second home. Countless hours of practice and games have brought Goss to the varsity soccer team where she hopes her skills can help the team win this season.
“I love playing the sport I love with my best friends. Being surrounded by people that work hard makes me become a better player. My goal for the season is to try to improve as an all-around soccer player and to repeat our state title with my best friends,” said Goss.
This Jenks team is a close group, and they push one another to work hard and continue to improve.
“I love how my teammates are always pushing me to be better and always supporting me no matter what. I have been playing with several of these girls since I was five years old. We have a bond and chemistry that makes us successful,” said Goss.
Goss said the upperclassmen are doing a great job leading the team and she is confident they will do very well this season. Goss continues to work on all aspects of the game so she can be ready when the team needs her.
“Being a sophomore on the team, we have several juniors and seniors that are great role models for the team. We all work really hard together every day to have a successful season. I have always played defense and this last year I have had the opportunity to play up top more. I have had the chance to score a few goals and help contribute to the team,” said Goss.
Away from soccer, Goss is a member of STUCO, FCA, math club, and drug free youth. Her favorite subject is math, and she hopes to one day play soccer in college.
“I want to play collegiate soccer and become a nurse,” said Goss.
In her free time Goss said she enjoys going to the lake and hanging out with friends and family.
“Our family goes on a family vacation every year which I always look forward to,” said Goss.
