Jenks Boys Tennis – Team Spotlight – Presented by Tulsa Fitness Systems

Jenks Boys Tennis

To build a successful tennis program that lasts, you need great athletes and great coaching. Jenks has both under head coach Ronnie Acebo. Over the history of the Jenks tennis program, the boys team has an astounding 17 team titles that includes an incredible run of state titles from 1991 to 2000 consecutively. Their last title came in 2023, but according to coach Acebo, this team may be young, but they are hungry and ready to compete.

“The boys tennis team will be competitive this year, returning four starters from last year, all underclassmen. I believe our team has a shot at challenging for a state championship if all of our players perform to the best of their abilities and victory smiles favorably upon us,” said coach Acebo.

One name everyone is familiar with is that of two-time state champion Krishna Bhadriraju. The winner of 6A #2 singles in 2023 and #1 singles in 2024, Bhadriraju is poised for another great season. Coach Acebo said he has the tools to do great things.

“He is humble in his behavior, funny in his actions, and exhibits love for the game of tennis. He is blessed with quick reflexes and the ability to mix hard drives with soft touches to win the point and perplex his opponents. He plays a big man’s game in a youth’s body. And as just a junior, he has the opportunity to pursue two more individual state championships if he remains focus on being the best tennis player and person he can be. He is a blessing to the team and to Jenks,” said coach Acebo.

A freshman to keep an eye on this year is Vir Beniwal. Known for playing hard and being a quick learner, Beniwal is developing into another player who can compete for wins and titles. Elijah Clink is the ultimate team player and someone who loves to compete. His willingness to spend countless hours improving his game is a big reason why everyone is willing to work hard on the team.

Also look for Garrison McKinney, a high-character player who does all the little things right. Coach Acebo said McKinney exhibits all of the honorable characteristics that you want in a player.

“He is kind to all and always has a good word to say whether it’s motivating his partner on the court or sharing his faith with others. Tennis is his game, but life is his goal.”
