VYPE: Omari, what grade are you in and what position are you playing for Jenks?
Omari Robinson: I’m in the 12th grade and I play the point guard position.
VYPE: What age did you start playing basketball?
OR: I started playing basketball when I was six years old.
VYPE: What is the strength of your game and what have you improved on the most?
OR: My strength in my game would most likely be my defense on how I really get four steals a game and force a lot of turnovers and what I really improved on is my shot from the three it’s really something that helped us win games.
VYPE: What’s been your favorite moment as a student-athlete at JHS?
OR: My favorite moment at Jenks being an athlete here is freshman year when we scrimmaged a team in OKC and in the game they stole the ball on a fast break and I chase down blocked it.
VYPE: What makes Jenks a great place to be a student-athlete?
OR: Jenks is a great place for me because not only does it have great education it also has a good program all around in the coaching and teachers my teachers understand I do sports so they help me with school more and the coaching is not politics at all it’s really an great program for every Jenks student athlete.
VYPE: Which teammate keeps everyone laughing and who is the most serious?
OR: I want to say my teammate Illias Tata is the funniest. He is a clown at heart a makes the whole team laugh no matter what he makes it fun for everybody and the most serious person would have to be Jace Johnson he is the one that don’t even play he just comes in get to work and train hard and leave.
VYPE: How do you mentally prepare yourself for competition?
OR: I mentally prepare myself for competition by talking to God because God is always first and he is someone I can talk to all the time and he really helps get there mentally.
VYPE: Who do you love most about your team and teammates?
OR: What I love most about my teammates is that we all are tight with each other we all close and care for each other’s future, so we push each other past our limits every day.
VYPE: What’s the goal for life after high school?
OR: My goal is to go to college and play college basketball and be professional with basketball and live the dream playing basketball.
