VYPE: What grade are you in, what position do you play and when did you start playing volleyball?
Emerson Hill: I am a junior and I play libero. I started playing volleyball in 7th grade.
VYPE: What is your favorite memory or moment as a player for Jenks?
EH: Playing in the state tournament.
VYPE: Do you have a favorite subject in school and a favorite teacher?
EH: My favorite subject in school is chemistry and my favorite teacher is my chem teacher Mr. Ruby!
VYPE: What makes JHS a great place for you as a student-athlete?
EH: JHS has well-rounded athletes. Not only are we athletic but we are all very successful in the classroom. I also love the support system I have with my coaches; I know they’re always there for me.
VYPE: Has anyone on the team surprised you this season with their play or just impressed you?
EH: My middle Lola continues to amaze me with her talent and her leadership. She’s just an overall amazing athlete.
VYPE: Which teammate keeps everyone laughing, who is the most serious?
EH: Sarah Scott is always keeping everyone laughing on the team, even in tough moments. Then we have our serious players like Miley Moore and
VYPE: How do you mentally prepare yourself for competition?
EH: Visualization is a great tool I use because it helps me to envision exactly what I want to achieve. I do this before every competition to get me mentally prepared.
VYPE: What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
EH: The days are long, but the years are short. Enjoy the time you have in the moment.
VYPE: What’s the goal for life after high school?
EH: My goal for life after high school is to pursue a professional degree and study marine biology.
