Very few programs in the state have enjoyed the amount of success as the Jenks swim team. Their work ethic and drive make them a force every time they arrive at a pool for competition. Walker Bridenstine is a senior this year and will swim the 100 backstroke and the 200 IM. Bridenstine said he loves competing with this team.
“I really enjoy competing with my teammates. I love that we have all been swimming together for such a long time. I enjoy working hard together and winning as a team,” said Bridenstine.
A swimmer for nine years, Bridenstine said the team is looking great and he’s ready to see what they can accomplish.
“We’re looking great and remain undefeated! Our goal for the season is to continue working hard, building our focus as we get closer to State,” said Bridenstine.
Also a member of National Honor Society, Drug Free Youth, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and DECA, Bridenstine said he plans to take his talents to the next level, but before he ends his prep career, Bridenstine would like to make this a season to remember.
The senior said everyone on the team is performing at a high level and he pointed to a freshman as the future of the program.
“You should watch Evan Powers. He is a freshman on our team who is swimming so great this season,” said Bridenstine.
Away from the pool Bridenstine said he enjoys playing basketball with friends.
Good luck this season to the Jenks swim team on their quest for another state championship.
