In her final season of prep softball, Jenks High School’s Cali Worsham is enjoying every minute of competing and spending time with her teammates.

“Jenks HS is a great place to be a student-athlete because everyone loves sports here, my teachers are interested in my games as well as my friends and classmates. This has been my favorite group of teammates solely because we all get along and we all like being around each other, we hang out outside of softball and we’ve built great friendships,” said Worsham.

While Worsham grew up playing many different sports, softball became her sport of choice. “Growing up I played basketball, lacrosse, and softball. I like lacrosse but grew out of it, softball has been my favorite for a long time now,” said Worsham.

For Worsham, it’s more than just playing ball, it’s about being a good teammate and setting an example for other classes to follow.

“What I love most is the atmosphere that I’m surrounded by when I’m at softball, we all like each other and everyone gets along. I’ve met some great people and great coaches. This year we started a new tradition of getting bigs and littles on the team and it’s helped to build a stronger relationship with the freshmen which has created a better team dynamic,” said Worsham.

The senior was quick to point out her teammates and how well they have played this season.

“A couple teammates that have impressed me are Brylie, she’s been amazing in the outfield and Kenzie, she’s a great athlete and one of the best third basemen I’ve ever played with,” said Worsham.

Away from softball, Worsham is involved in FCCLA, YAF, and SALT (Student Athlete Leadership Team). Worsham said she would like to study and work in the medical field after high school and college.

“I want to study biochemistry on the pre-med route to become an anesthesiologist. My favorite subject right now is Human Anatomy and Physiology. I’ve always liked science classes and I have a few favorite teachers but my top two are Mr. Breig and Madame Brown,” said Worsham.

As for the Class of 2024?

“I want my class to be remembered as role models and friends, people that our underclassmen could talk to. I want us to be remembered as a class that hated losing more than winning, and a group that pushed their teammates.”
