Underclassman to Watch
Semaj Stanford
Jenks Football
The Jenks Trojans are not known for bringing up too many freshmen to the varsity level.
There was a day when no freshman made varsity. This year two freshmen have been regulars on the roster for the Trojans. One of those, Semaj Stanford, is not only on the roster, but he’s in the lineup.
Many people close to the program knew Stanford from his youth football days, but few expected to see him make an impact on the varsity level this year.
Stanford can start in the secondary for the Trojans. His athleticism and speed allow him to play one of the corner positions and play it well. Where he has shown to be extremely effective is at running back.
During the Trojan Preview, Stanford was tough to stop. He ran hard and ran with attitude.
He showed the same passion against Edmond Santa Fe and Owasso.
Stanford’s older brother was a running back for the Trojans, so Semaj knows what it takes to be an every-down back, but the Trojans are loaded at tailback. The fact that Semaj is getting playing time should tell you what the coaches think of him.
Expect this Underclassman to Watch, to be someone we spend the next four seasons talking about at Jenks.
