Blake Bilby may have spent some of his youth in Sapulpa, but make no mistake, Bilby is a Jenks Trojan through and through.
“I grew up in Sapulpa, and moved to Jenks in the sixth grade,” said Bilby.
Bilby grew up playing multiple sports, but it was football that he enjoyed the most and he stuck with it through middle school and junior varsity. Now a player for the varsity team, Bilby is excited to take the field and represent the Jenks brand.
“I’ve played almost every sport you can, but football has always been what I wanted to play,” said Bilby. “I’ve always looked forward to playing high school ball and the fact I get to do it for one of the most recognized schools in the country is awesome.”
Bilby is quick to talk about his teammates and the type of bond he shares with them.
“We have such a good bond off the field so I’m super excited to see how that translates to the field,” said Bilby. “Owen Jones and Kaydin Jones are my best friends so I’m looking forward to playing with them.”
Bilby said players like Ayden Christianson, Ilias Cooper and Conner Thompson are players every Trojan fan should watch this season.
The wide receiver has one game circled on the schedule, but he will have to wait until the last week of the regular season, which could settle the district title race.
“I’m always going to be most excited to play Bixby,” said Bilby. “I want our class to be remembered for being super fun to watch and being the most dominant team.” Bilby could see time at safety this season, but whether it’s offense or defense, his excitement for the season is palpable.
“I just enjoy the feeling of going out and feeling like the whole town is there to support us,” said Bilby.
