As the Lady Trojans season is underway, sophomore infielder and pitcher Bella Rodman is staying focused on the task at hand. Rodman and the Lady Trojan want to make the state tournament and compete for a state title.
Since she was five, softball has been the sport of choice for Rodman. As a freshman Rodman led the team in hitting with a .486 batting average and an on-base-percentage of .579. She has 12 doubles and 17 walks and was 4-1 from the circle. Rodman was named to the 6A-3 All-District team for her play at second base.
Rodman is no stranger to the Jenks program. Two older sisters who were All-Staters came through first, now it’s her turn to do the family name proud.
“The thing I have enjoyed the most about the team is the intensity we bring to the field and the amount of runs we are capable of putting on the board. I have also enjoyed being coached my coach Williams for the past two years,” said Rodman.
Rodman said the community and the teachers at Jenks are very supportive of the Lady Trojans and she is proud to represent Jenks.
“I’m most excited about making memories with my teammates and representing the Jenks jersey. What I love most about is the energy that this group brings on to the field and that this is a very tight group,” said Rodman.
In the classroom, Rodman said her favorite subject is math and her favorite teacher is coach Giddens. Rodman is involved in Project Unity and the Native American Club. One day she would like to attend college and pursue a degree in dentistry.
