Jenks will be in good position for a repeat of its 2022 season under head coach Todd Williams, who guided the Trojans to a 33-7 overall record and an appearance in the Class 6A State Tournament. Jenks returns six starters, including both of its pitchers. “We have a good mix of veteran players as well as some very good young ones. We will be led by seniors Kenzie Cothran, Aubree Vickrey, and Cali Worsham,” Williams said. Sophomore second baseman Bella Rodman, a VYPE Top 100 nominee, is following in the footsteps of her older sisters – Natalie Rodman and Catheryn Rodman – who were both all-state selections at Jenks. Rodman is off to a great start. She led the team with a .486 batting average last year as a freshman while posting a .579 on-base percentage with 12 doubles and 17 walks. Rodman will also help with pitching duties. She had a 4-1 record with a 2.07 ERA in 2022. “She is living up to the family name expectations. She was a 6A-3 All-District selection as a freshman second baseman,” Williams said. Cothran will be in her fourth year as a starter, the last two years as a third baseman. She hit .345 and led the team in RBIs as a junior. The 6A-3 All-District selection was a starting catcher as a freshman. “Kenzie will be a four-year starter and is a great leader by example. She was thrust into the starting line-up as a freshman when our starting catcher was contacted, traced and missed 15 games,” Williams said. “She has started at third base the last two years and has one of the best gloves we have ever had here at Jenks. Her versatility and knowledge of the game make her capable of playing any position on the field.” Worsham returns as the ace of the pitching staff after going 16-1 with a 1.54 ERA and five shutouts last season. Worsham, named a 6A-3 All-District pitcher in 2022, also plays in the outfield. “She will be our No. 1 in the circle and will be a staple at the plate for us this season. When not pitching, Cali will be roaming the outfield with a cannon attached to her right shoulder,” Williams said. “A very good all-around player that we are looking to have a great year at the plate as well.” Josie Jervas had a breakout year as a freshman in 2022 and can play in both the infield and outfield, although she will be primarily used as an outfielder. Jervas batted .354, led the team in home runs and had a .469 on-base percentage last year. “Josie had a great freshman year last season and has a very bright future,” Williams said. The Trojans return their starting catcher, junior Paiton Hedges. Hedges had 10 doubles and a home run in 2022. “She does a great job of handling our pitchers. A very hard worker with a ton of pop in her bat,” Williams said. “Her power numbers will increase this season. We are looking for her to have a breakout year at the plate.” Junior Kennedy Joiner will contribute in the outfield. “Kennedy is one of the most selfless human beings I have ever known. She always sees what needs to be done and usually does it before I even have to ask,” Williams said. “She never does anything looking to get a reward for it. I know if I need something taken care of regardless of what it is, I can always count on KJ.” Other seniors on the roster are Natalee Hicks, Samantha Painter and Aubrey Vickery. Jordyn Cook and Ava Faust return as juniors. Sophomores who will play roles include Jessie Anmann, Brylie Blossom and Christy Wisnoski. Chase Hurley, Payton Kock, Mia Rodriguez, Ella Sofield and Charleigh Sons are incoming freshmen.
