Q&A with Jenks’ Avery Arant – Presented by Riverside Pediatrics

VYPE: What grade are you in? 

Avery: I’m a freshman.

VYPE: How long have you been playing tennis? What’s your favorite part of playing tennis? 

Avery: I have been playing tennis for almost six years and my favorite part is hanging out with the team.

VYPE: Do you prefer to play singles or doubles? 

Avery: I usually play singles but I’ve played doubles before with Quinn Leos and Carrington Hessen. I prefer to play doubles. 

VYPE: What’s your favorite type of shot to hit, and why? 

Avery: My favorite shot is the serve because I can hit it wherever I want and control how the point goes. 

VYPE: What’s your proudest accomplishment so far in your tennis career? 

Avery: My proudest accomplishment for high school is winning the Jenks Invitational. My high school record is 20-1. 

VYPE: Which teammate or coach pushes you hardest to play your best? 

Avery: My sister, Coach Doug and Coach Jason push me to play my best. 

VYPE: How do you like to celebrate winning a match or a tournament? 

Avery: I don’t really celebrate but I’m excited to move to the next round. 

VYPE: What are your goals for this year and beyond? Avery: My goal for this year is to win state and beyond that to play at a D1 college level or better.
