Jenks’ Brynn Roberts – Fall Athlete Standout – Presented by Hall of Fame Sponsor Spine by Villamil, MD

By BYRON BEERS

Brynn Roberts is a highly-regarded athlete at Jenks High School.

She’s also one of the top volleyball players to ever step foot on the court in the program’s storied history.

Roberts, who was selected by online voters as a Jenks’ fall athlete to feature, wrapped up a glamorous career last fall for the Lady Trojans.

The list of accomplishments is long.

As a setter, she broke a school mark with 2,572 career assists.

She helped lead Jenks to a Class 6A state championship as a junior, and a runner-up finish as a senior.

She recorded 100 kills (37.3 kill percentage), 531 serve aces, 170 digs, 1,078 assists, 32 blocks and had a 27.6 hit percentage in her final year.

She was named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association Large East All-State team in October.

“It means a ton, getting recognized for your hard work is very reassuring and makes me personally want to keep grinding,” Roberts said on her all-state selection.

The Lady Trojans went 32-5 in 2022 under head coach Tanna Smith and fell to Edmond Memorial in five sets in the state championship match. Jenks went 31-8 en route to a state title in 2021.

“Some of my favorite accomplishments at Jenks would be winning state my junior year and making it to the finals the next year, and being able to break school records with my stats,” Roberts said.

“I remember [winning the state championship] being an unforgettable experience. It was all that we worked for, and we as a team kept our priorities and goals in front of us, and we all knew what we wanted, which was an amazing feeling to be on the same page and have the same energy and passion to get something accomplished as a team!”

Roberts has multiple offers from Division I and Division II schools, but hasn’t decided if she wants to pursue volleyball on the next level.

“I have yet to decide what I want to do yet,” she said. “I have an opportunity to play volleyball in college but I also want to become a dentist, so I’m still undecided if I want to take on both tasks.”

Jenks has won five state championships in the program’s history – 1996, 1997, 2006, 2014, 2021.
