VYPE: Where did you get your start coaching and where did you originally graduate from?
Dillingham: My first coaching position was coaching 7th/8th girls basketball and HS baseball at Hilldale Public Schools. I graduated from Northeastern Oklahoma State University with my bachelor degree.
VYPE: What is the message to the athletes at Jenks under your guidance and leadership?
Dillingham: Enjoy your opportunity to be involved in athletics. Winning and losing is not the most important thing, the relationships you develop and the life lessons you learn through sports is really the important part.
VYPE: Do you have a coaching/teaching mentor? Someone you have looked up to or call on for advice?
Dillingham: I was blessed to have several and still have several but my first was Monte Madewell. He coached at Haskell and was later the head women’s basketball coach and AD at Connors State Junior College, he was an excellent science teacher and coach and he was very influential in my decision to follow the professional track that I have.
VYPE: Let me throw a few fun questions at you so everyone can get to know you a little better. Where is your favorite place for lunch or dinner if you’re eating out?
Dillingham: Any place that serves a good steak and/or good Italian food.
VYPE: Do you have any hobbies?
Dillingham: Love to spend time with my family/grandsons and play golf when I can.
VYPE: Favorite sports team from the college or pro ranks?
Dillingham: OU football, but love to support all our state schools.
VYPE: Your favorite sports movie?
Dillingham: Hoosiers, but there are so many great ones.
VYPE: First concert you attended?
Dillingham: Showing my age here but it was Ronnie Milsap.
VYPE : Have you ever visited another country? If so, where?
Dillingham: I have not been out of the US.
VYPE : Tell me what you have come to love most about Jenks, your athletes and where is the future of the program headed?
Dillingham: I love that although Jenks is a very large school district, it still has that small hometown feel. You can be involved in so many activities and have so many educational opportunities but you still have a Homecoming parade down main street.
VYPE: Who gets a big shoutout from AD Dillingham?
Dillingham: Shout out to our wonderfully supportive community and to all our school staff and student athletes.
